Community standards

Forum & sighting guidelines

Transit is built by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts. These standards keep the community high-quality, relevant and trustworthy. By posting a thread or logging a sighting you agree to follow them.

Forum guidelines

Applies to all threads and replies.

  • Stay on topic

Keep posts focused on public transport — operations, routes, fleets, sightings and infrastructure. Off-topic threads may be removed.

  • Be respectful

Debate ideas, not people. Personal attacks, harassment or discriminatory language is not tolerated.

  • No spam or self-promotion

Unsolicited promotion, repeated posts and commercial advertising will be removed.

  • Cite your sources

When sharing a claim, photo or spec, link the operator or a reputable reference so others can verify.

  • No misinformation

Deliberately fabricated or misleading content is removed and may cost posting privileges.

  • Moderator approval

All new threads are reviewed before going live. Rejected threads include a reason where possible.

Sighting standards

For logbook entries and verified sightings.

  • Accurate fleet numbers

Record the exact fleet or unit number visible on the vehicle — never guess or approximate.

  • Cross-reference the model

Confirm the model or class against an operator fleet list or a trusted source before submitting.

  • Real date and time

Log the actual sighting time. Back-dated or estimated entries undermine the logbook.

  • Helpful, honest photos

A photo strengthens a sighting, but only upload your own work — never pass off another spotter's image as yours.

  • Verification

Moderators cross-check sightings against public fleet data. Verified sightings count towards the leaderboard.

  • No fabrications

Invented sightings are removed. Repeat offences result in loss of sighting privileges.

Moderation

Volunteer moderators review every thread and verify sightings against public operator data. They can edit, hide or remove content that breaks these standards, and suspend repeat offenders.

Spotted something that breaks the rules? Use the contact page and a moderator will take a look.

Quality over quantity — a few well-sourced entries beat a flood of guesses.
